The 17th annual National Television Awards are one of the main highlights of the TV calendar. With not only awards hitting the news, it was another great year which some well deserved winners including: Downton Abbey for Best Drama, The X Factor for Best Talent Show, Jacqueline Jossa for Best Newcomer as well as many others. Special awards also went out to Gary Barlow for the Oustanding Contribution Award and David Walliams for the Landmark Award.
Job Overview:Our very own Simon Tompkinson was over at the O2 arena for a couple of days taking care of the edit setup. With an Avid edit suite deployed and Avid Interplay ready to go, the first job of the evening is an exceptionally fast turnaround edit of the red carpet arrivals. Several handheld OB cameras capture this and the isolated camera feeds are ingested by EVS servers in the OB truck. These feeds stream across to the edit storage allowing the editor to drop shots of the arrivals into the timeline just seconds behind the live action.
With the red carpet edit transmitted, and just a moment to draw breath, attention switches to preparing highlights of the show, edited as the awards show is on air in readiness for the after party transmission.
