Project Casestudy:
The Nutcracker A feature-length variation on the tale set in 1920s Vienna, Nutcracker: The Untold Story, featuring John Turturro as the Mouse King, Elle Fanning as Mary and Nathan Lane as a new character, Uncle Albert, is scheduled to be released during the Christmas holiday season of 2009. It is currently in post-production. The film is written and directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. Hyperactive had the challenging task of transferring this complete HD project from Lightworks to an Avid Adrenaline HD system. This entailed recreating the entire project structure with all its clips and sequences with total of nearly 400 bins and folders from the original Lightworks, including all the rushes bins, scene bins and edit bins. These all needed individually checking to ensure each Avid bin contained all the correct information compared to the original project. All the rushes tapes were recaptured using multiple Media Composer Adrenalines stations with VTRs, all connected to an Avid Unity shared storage system set-up at Hyperactive. These ingest stations continually captured material 10hrs a day for two weeks. From the day of installation onwards, Hyperactive worked very closely with all the Editors and Assistants, ensuring they had technical assistance whenever they needed it.
