After three wonderful years at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve in Norfolk, Springwatch has moved its base and going wild in Wales! Their new home is the remote, breathtakingly beautiful and biologically fascinating RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve in Ceredigion, Mid Wales.
The fantastic 700 hectare reserve is set in a stunning location at the top of the Dyfi Estuary, flanked by the Cambrian Mountains. It's no exaggeration to say it's a veritable wildlife haven, with a huge variety of different habitats to explore - Welsh oak woodland, wet grassland, saltmarsh, reedbeds, heathland, rivers and ponds.
Long before setting up in Wales, Hyperactive built a Springwatch edit facility in Bristol so that the production team could edit and prepare a number of items ahead of a move to Wales. Six weeks in and the time had come to up and move to Ynys-hir so Hyperactive dismantled the Bristol facility and moved the whole lot to mid-Wales. The addition of integration with EVS and the use of IP-Director enables media that has been recorded in the OB truck to be sent to the Avid network for editing and completed packages to be sent back to EVS for transmission.
