Radio One's Big Weekend This year BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend took place at the Vaynol estate in North Wales in May. There was live music across four stages, music and activities from the two-day event all covered on: Radio 1 , BBC Three on TV, on the Red Button and online at the Big Weekend web site. The benefits of a tapeless file based workflow are tremendous on a project like this. EVS servers ingest the coverage across all the stages as well as shots from isolated cameras that are useful in the edit. Everything is immediately available on the EVS network for transmission and for instant streaming over to Avid editing.

EVS IP Director plays an important part in the media management process enabling media to be catalogued, searched and transferred around and between EVS and Avid networks. The further addition of large yet inexpensive  "nearline" storage increases the possibilities allowing performances to be kept available on the EVS network for the duration of the event.

Five full specification Avid Media Composer editors sharing Avid Unity storage and with Avid Interplay management completes the installation allowing production staff to simultaneous work on packaging content for all the outlets and to stream it back over to EVS servers for transmission or upload for web site content.
