4 Days, 45 Stages, 1 Location... oh and 700 metres of urinals! (Yes, that's what we said) Glastonbury Festival 2010 is here and is set to be the biggest ever. With the sun out and temperatures set to rise, it's no wonder they're expecting huge numbers.
Glasonbury sunshine can be a problem when you need to mount some 20 servers into a truck so we've installed some monster air-conditioning units to keep it all running cool.
And for the 40th aniversary festival we've deployed our most ambitious EVS-Avid integrated editing setup yet. All the important equipment elements are there, both HD and SD EVS XT(2)s, XFile, XTAccess, IPDirector, Nearline Storage, a 32TB Avid Unity, Avid Interplay, all hooked up to 8 Avid Media Composer suites.
To make installation at Glastonbury straight forward we built and tested the servers in a truck at our Ash Vale base. Driven down to Somerset and parked up alongside a huge cabin housing the suites, 3 OB Units and a mobile VT unit, the installation was rigged and ready to go in a couple of days.
Of course the other vital element in this is Hyperactive's experienced integration engineers. Two of our best, just back from the World Cup, are there for the duration to configure the setup and ensure all goes well.
Servicing BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC HD, Red Button Feeds and Interactive through the BBC Web Site our servers make light work of a complex production.
